Wilmington, DE — On Wednesday, June 26th, West Side Grows Together (WSGT) will gather friends, farmers, local businesses, and community partners to kick off the 2024 season of the West Side Farmers Market at Cool Spring Park.  Opening day of the West Side Farmers Market at Cool Spring Park includes more than 13 local vendors selling fresh produce, plants, flowers, coffee, baked goods, fresh juices, free homemade Italian water ice “happy hour” at 4pm (thanks to a monthly donation from Fusco’s Water Ice) and an array of specialty foods and handmade goods including local food from The Stand. In addition to local food and produce, the Opening Day will feature funky music by DJ Black Ice, face painting by Ilana Write from 4-5:30pm, “Get Moving Wednesdays” session presented by Outdoor Global Classroom, plus a variety of handmade treasures, kids corner, and more!

A major emphasis of the West Side Farmers Market at Cool Spring Park is to increase access to local fresh fruits and vegetables for everyone. The Market accepts SNAP / EBT and while funds last, the West Side Farmers Market will match 100% of SNAP purchases with funds that can be used on fresh fruits & vegetables at the market, up to $20. To spend SNAP, customers will bring their EBT card to the farmers market welcome table to swipe for any amount in exchange for Fresh Bucks wooden tokens to spend with vendors. SNAP customers will automatically get matching Bonus Bucks!  Bonus Bucks increase the spending power of shoppers using SNAP at our farmers market by providing a 100% match (up to $20) on grocery purchases to spend on fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey. That's double the SNAP dollars to spend on local food! Customers may also use their DE State Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) & WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits directly with vendors at the market. Credit cards are also accepted by most vendors.

The West Side Farmers Market is a community-based initiative, promoting access to the best local foods AND cultivating a space for outdoor learning, with live music / free family entertainment throughout the season, including Drum Circles run by percussionist Aaron Walker, performances by jazz clarinetist Lara Vercher, live tunes by the Elon Busk band and acoustic sets by solo artist Evangelina Guajardo, plus free Healthy Eating Cooking (and tasting!) demonstrations with Free Food For All, and much more!

Featured vendors* for 2024 include: Bright Spot Farms, Barking Dog Farm, Messiah's Market, Gravesyard Apiary, Hell's Belles Bake Shop, Huck and Buck Farm,  Lucky Shot Coffee Co., The Twins Barkery Bites, specialty vendors such as Ethnicitees, Self Made Creations, and Transformation Cosmetics, food truck The Stand, hot food from Veronica’s Kitchen plus free youth programs including the Education 1st Golf Program, and cricket with Osrick & Cricket!
