Heroes & Restaurants FAQ
Restaurants
What restaurants qualify to participate?
The primary focus of Heroes & Restaurants is on independently owned sit-down restaurants based in the West Side of Wilmington, with secondary focus on other types of restaurants (i.e. takeout, food trucks, etc.) and those located in greater Wilmington. However Heroes & Restaurants is open to restaurants throughout New Castle County. At this time Heroes & Restaurants does not accept franchised restaurants for participation.
How do you choose which restaurant gets which order?
Orders are primarily matched based on availability of both restaurants and facilities, in addition to the order in which each restaurant has been onboarded to the program.
What should I expect?
Once a request is in the queue that matches your restaurant’s availability, our staff will reach out to you. Please be prepared to submit a quote, in the form of an invoice, at least 48 hours in advance of the actual delivery. After the invoice is received the quote is subject to approval. Once approved, you will be notified and the delivery can occur. Other than the approval process, the rest of it is like a normal delivery order.
Who pays for the meals?
Payment will come from Cornerstone West CDC, on behalf of the Heroes & Restaurants program which has been funded by generous donors. Restaurants have a choice of check or credit card payment. Any discount or donation you can provide will help the funds go further to support the community.
Do I need to deliver the meals myself?
If someone on your team is unable to make the delivery, please select the appropriate response in the sign-up form and a pickup by a volunteer will be arranged for you.
