Wilmington, DE: West Side Grows Together introduces Curbside Wednesdays on Union Street, a weekly special event occurring at select restaurants on Union Street featuring expanded outdoor dining options. The Curbside Wednesday initiative began with a soft open on September 23rd and will continue every Wednesday from 5-9 PM* through October 28th. With the support of the City of Wilmington and the Committee of 100, Curbside Wednesdays builds upon Curbside Wilmington, which brought expanded seasonal outdoor dining spaces to restaurants throughout Wilmington. During Curbside Wednesdays, participating restaurants feature weekly specials and live music with the aim of revitalizing the Union Street corridor and reminding neighbors that they can dine safely at their favorite neighborhood restaurants.

“If there's one thing I can say about Curbside Wednesdays is that it's bringing the energy back to Union Street through the efforts of so many and I love it! It's about community, and the support they have shown to make it happen is beautiful,” says Susan Rocco, owner of Rocco Italian Grill & Sports Bar at 701 North Union Street.

As part of Curbside Wednesdays, participating restaurants use existing outdoor dining areas to expand their capacity to serve customers safely while featuring exclusive specials like happy hour deals, seasonal dishes and cocktails, live music, and more. Rocco Italian Grill expands their service into 7th Street with plenty of space to enjoy their live music and seasonal cocktail and dining specials. Walter’s Steakhouse, a new addition starting this week, utilizes their existing no parking area to expand their dinner service and features complimentary appetizers only to outdoor diners to promote their new space. Other restaurants utilize existing sidewalk and parking spaces to serve their customers during these weekly events which draw both regulars and new customers alike.
